About petrawadirum.com
petrawadirum.com is an independent guide to tours from Amman, Aqaba and the Egyptian Red Sea coast to Petra and the Wadi Rum desert, most of them with a night in a desert camp. This page explains who runs it, how tours get onto the site and how it is financed.
Who writes here
The site is run by Patrick Kühne, an independent travel publisher in Markkleeberg near Leipzig, Germany. He researches, writes and updates the pages himself and runs a small group of guides to day tours and attraction tickets, among them sites on day trips from Hurghada to Luxor and to Cairo.
How tours are chosen
Only tours that can be booked today appear here, and the main source is GetYourGuide. A tour from Viator is added only where GetYourGuide has nothing with a useful number of reviews, for example day trips from Aqaba or from Dahab. Tours with very few or no reviews are left out. Where a tour cannot be cancelled free of charge up to the day before, the table and the tour card say so. When two listings look like the same tour, only one is shown: the one with more reviews, unless its average rating is more than 0.2 stars lower. Tours that stop selling are taken off the site automatically. Animal rides are never presented as a reason to book a tour.
How the site earns money
Booking links go to GetYourGuide and Viator. When you book through one of them, the platform pays a commission; your price stays the same. Comparison tables are sorted by number of reviews, not by commission.
Where the facts come from
Prices, ratings and review counts are loaded from the booking platforms once a day. Tour facts such as pickup, itinerary, tent type and what is included come from the tour listings, read in November 2026. Background facts come from named official sources: entry fees from the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority and the Jordan Tourism Board, the Jordan Pass rules from jordanpass.jo, ferry times from the operator AB Maritime, and travel advice from the German Federal Foreign Office and the UK Foreign Office, always with the date they were checked.
What this site is not
petrawadirum.com does not run tours, sells no tickets itself and is not the website of Petra, of the Wadi Rum protected area or of any operator. For binding information on times, pickup, border formalities and cancellation, the booking confirmation and the operator count, and for safety, the travel advice of your own government.
